About Me
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) who specializes in orthopedic therapy, pelvic health and functional manual therapy. My full body approach of assessment and treatment aims to find the root of the problem and holistic healing that incorporates mind and body. I include personalized assessment and treatment using movement assessment, manual therapy, and specific exercise to reach each personal goal. My unique training through the Institute of Physical Art, Herman and Wallace Institute and Barral Institute has allowed me to efficiently provide exceptional treatment for various conditions helping to restore and optimize function.
Analysis of human movement has always been something that has always fascinated me especially as a former dancer and yoga practitioner. I began my career as a physical therapist working in the orthopedic population and the dance population. I also have worked with professional dancers and performers on Broadway. Studying movement and efficiency to gain optimal human function has been my passion and led me to connect the dots as I studied the interrelationship of pelvic floor function with the rest of the human body. The pelvic floor, also known as the “mula bonda” in yoga is your center. It is your core. Core efficiency is so important for grounding and for optimal function of the rest of your body. Understanding the functioning of your pelvic floor allows you to connect to your breath and is essential for diaphragmatic functioning. All of this not only helps with physical demands, it also is essential for mind-body relationship and your nervous system. In my practice I aim to create holistic healing and balance through physical rehabilitation and mind-body healing.
My dedication as a practitioner is to provide expert quality care without the restraints of insurance companies. This will give me the freedom to help create a safe and healing environment with one - on - one sessions uniquely tailored to you and your needs. The combination of highly skilled treatment, education and specific exercises will allow you to take charge of your health and healing leaving you to come out feeling confident and empowered. Thank you for choosing me in your healing journey.
Working collaboratively we will design a specific plan to set you up for success and achieve your goals.

MY SPECIALTIES
Pregnancy and Postpartum
I am very passionate about working with this patient population, especially being a new mom myself. I believe that all women should get evaluated by a pelvic floor therapist during pregnancy and postpartum. I have the knowledge and training to help prepare mothers for birth and to rehab postpartum. The pregnancy and postpartum period can come with many challenges. It changes your life and your body. Working with me can help you navigate through them. I can help with birth prep, posture training/ fitness, back pain, prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and more! A personalized program will be provided to help reach your goals and improve function.
Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
The pelvic floor are the muscles at the bottom of your pelvis that controls urinary, bowel and sexual function. They are also an important part of your core and connect to your hips and back which can affect how your body functions. Dysfunction through here can lead to problems with any of these functions. Your muscles can be too tight, too weak and/or uncoordinated which affects not just the pelvic floor muscles but also muscles that they connect to. It can be the cause of pain and discomfort. I work closely with other health care professionals which may include gynecologists, gastroenterologists, urologists, nutritionists, and mental health therapists to create a plan to help you heal holistically. Dealing with pelvic pain and dysfunction can be very challenging and with my expertise I am dedicated to give you the help you need with empathy and compassion.
Gut Health
As a pelvic health specialist I evaluate the intra-abdominal pressure system. Dysfunctions through here can result in increased gas or bloating and can present with issues such as constipation, reflux, IBS, digestive issues. Evaluating and treating the viscera with manual techniques as well as providing specific exercises to help manage dysfunction with the intra-abdominal pressure system can help alleviate some of these discomforts.
My approach to orthopedic injuries include a full body approach to assessment and treatment. My goal is to find the driver of the pain/dysfunction and to regain and improve full functional capacity. I aim to find lasting relief.

FAQ
-
What should I expect from my first visit?
Sessions will be one - on - one where I will first gather a comprehensive history, learn about why you are here, your goals and what you expect to get out of physical therapy. I will then perform a thorough evaluation where I will observe posture, movement and breathing mechanics. I will then further evaluate areas of concern which may include your abdomen, back, hips, pelvic floor etc. During a pelvic floor assessment external and/or internal assessment may be performed with your consent and comfort level. This will all give me more information and understanding to allow me to find the root cause of your concerns. Based on my assessment we will discuss goals and plan of care for your treatment. Specific exercises and hands on treatment targeting your areas of concern will also be provided.
-
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out of network provider for all insurances. This will allow me to provide one - on - one quality care without the restraints of insurance companies. Payment is due at the time of service and an itemized superbill will be provided. This will have the information you need to create a health care claim for direct reimbursement through your insurance company. I recommend you call your insurance company ahead of time to find out if you are eligible for out of network reimbursements.

Do I need a referral?
New York State is a direct access state which means you do not need a referral for physical therapy services for 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first.
